Research/Genealogy: In the case of Jeffrey Alan Plank, the physical photo contains what appears to be his date of birth, not February 22, 1973- that's the data the photo was taken. His date of birth was removed because, at around 45 years old, he's very possibly still alive. In the case of Maureen Laurence, the 3rd birthday photo (down in the photos section) indicates the exact date on which the picture was taken, giving her exact date of birth in 1941. Maureen would be in her mid-70's now and could still be alive, so her date of birth was removed as well. In the documents attached to this batch of photos, there's a birth announcement on a specific day for Jim Harvey Henson, born to Bill and Dory Henson. There is an August 14, 1964 letter to Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Henson at a specific address in El Monte, CA. In the letter is a marriage announcement, on a specific day in 1964, bride Sandra Elaine Noble (daughter of Harold Clarence Cox), groom Lloyd Eugene McClain. I started searching this thread, but it appears Sandra may still be alive, so I stopped. There is a marriage invitation from Mrs. Gertrude Russell to the marriage of her daughter Paula Rose and Harry Edward Simmons on a specific day in 1941. There is no envelope with this invitation. There is a letter (no envelope) from Mary to Harvey, dated July 16, 1944. Transcribed: July 16, 1944 Dear Harvey: Yes, you are quite right about my letter writing these days. But Harv, I'm a pretty worried gal these days. I'm just not much good. I really always thought I had more courage than I am now displaying. But I hear from Les so seldom these days. You are in to see Alice more often than I hear from him. My last letter from him was dated May 27th and that is some time ago. About a month ago a sailor from Les ship came to see me. I was so thankful to talk to someone who has seen him lately. He told me all about Les and all the things he could not write to me. I was so thrilled at hearing all about Les' adventures. It wasn't until he left that I realized the close calls they have had. They have not had a leave or even a 36 hour pass since January 16- imagine that. They have been in 16 major battles, the main one being Gilbert and Marshalls and (?Truk? ?Fruk? illegible). He also said that Les was on his way to Saipan when he left the ship. The Belleau Wood has 3 Jap ships (planes) to her credit and has been missed by torpedos as close as 2 feet and 6 feet. He had a picture of Les taken with the gang in the radio shop. He looks well enough but so very thin. He works hard and I guess the heat is terrific. This kid of course had never known Les before, that he was a very quiet person and so serious, so I guess he has changed a lot. He told me a lot more that would take hours to write. As I kept talking until 10 o'clock on a Saturday night, until he left 4:00 in the afternoon Sunday. But after he left I felt worse off than ever. I guess I shall see Alice sometime next week as Lou phoned Alice would be a little later than she told me. You're lucky kids to see the little you do of each other. I'll keep my fingers crossed for your 3 month schooling. As ever, Mary There is a bachelor's degree for Harvey Henson, bachelor of Foreign Service, 1940, from USC.
